SPBrunner: Brunner Genealogy


The Brunner Family
The Brunner family originally came from Lützelflüh (Luetzelflueh), but had married and lived in Munzingen, Switzerland. In 1894 they left from Bern, Switzerland for Rye via New York City and Antwerp. I understand that they made their way from New York City, via train and boat to Rosseau Falls. From there they would have followed the Nipissing Trail north to their new home. My grandfather Jacob Albin Brunner is buried in Rye Cemetery, in Lount Township, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. He was born in Lützelflüh (Luetzelflueh), Bern Canton, Switzerland on 19 July 1832. He died in Rye, Parry Sound, Ontario on 11 January 1905.
My grandmother went to live with her daughter Lydia after her husband died. Lydia was married to Eugene Henry Dorsch. They eventually moved to Illinois in the US. Marie Brunner nee Stucki is buried in Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois, USA. Lydia and her husband are also buried in this cemetery. Marie Stucki was born in Lützelflüh (Luetzelflueh), Bern Canton, Switzerland on 29 August 1850. She died in Illinois, USA on 5 February 1940.
